I use this website as a means to share my life as a professional geographer with a growing artistic practice. My work interprets the landscapes we live in from a humanistic perspective. Geographers who work in this vein enchant the world with meaning and purpose. Art-Geography is both an interpretive tool and a means of being in the world.
My work takes place in the studios of the Department of Art at the University of Minnesota. Prior to seeking an MFA degree, I was assistant professor and founding faculty director of the Experimental Geography Studio at the University of Oklahoma. I work in various creative media (digital/web, photography, performance, sculpture) to express and advance thought related to cultural geography.
I hold a Ph.D. in Geography from UCLA, where I specialized in cultural and historical geography.
